Pest control for buildings under construction

Active construction sites in the UAE generate ideal pest conditions: open foundations attract termites, stagnant rainwater in formwork breeds mosquitoes, worker accommodation drives rodent and bed bug introductions, and stored building materials harbour cockroaches. PestMan runs site-stage programmes from ground-breaking through handover, with documentation aligned to RERA and Trakhees building-handover requirements.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

The questions buildings under construction operators ask before signing a service contract.

Why arrange pest control during construction rather than waiting until handover?
An active site creates pests that a clean finished building inherits if ignored — open foundations attract termites, stored materials harbour cockroaches, stagnant rainwater breeds mosquitoes, and worker accommodation introduces rodents and bed bugs. Running a site-stage programme from ground-breaking through handover keeps the build clean and means you hand over a pest-free building with documentation, rather than starting remediation after the first tenants complain.
What documentation do you provide for RERA or Trakhees handover?
Our site programme is documented to align with RERA and Trakhees building-handover requirements. We log every monthly site walk-through, keep worker-accommodation hygiene records, and align waste-handling with Tadweer guidance. At handover we compile the service history into a file the developer and authority can rely on, demonstrating that pest risk was managed continuously throughout the construction period.
How do you stop mosquitoes breeding on site, especially after rain?
Stagnant water trapped in formwork, excavations and material storage is the main mosquito source on UAE sites, and it spikes after every rain event. We attend monthly and again after each monsoon, applying BTi larvicide tablets to formwork depressions and standing-water pockets to kill larvae at source, and advising the site team on draining or filling collection points. Source reduction is far more effective on a large site than fogging adults.
Do you handle pest issues in the labour accommodation and site canteens?
Yes — worker accommodation is one of the highest-risk areas on any project. Bed bugs travel in with new arrivals and spread quickly through shared rooms, so we run a quarterly bed bug audit of the camp, and provide regular cockroach and fly service in site offices and canteens with UV traps. Keeping the accommodation and canteens clean protects both the workforce and the build, since these are where infestations most often originate and then migrate onto the structure.
